I am Alison Sweeney, and this is my little business.

I have worked in the advice industry for quite a few years now and I really love it.

Over the past few years I have specialised in Human Resources and supporting businesses. I have extensive experience in the Care Industry who tend to rely heavily on International Sponsorship for their staff.

International recruitment involves a huge amount of compliance work. Care Companies are audited by the Home Office and CQC and robust HR systems are necessary.

I offer an Independent HR Audit Service to ensure business are inspection ready at all times.

I have a qualifying law degree but I never actually wanted to be a solicitor, I always wanted to help the "little guy" and I worked in the Citizens Advice Bureau as Advice Services Manager, Social Policy Co-ordinator, Employment Law Specialist, Guidance Tutor and even as a volunteer in the very beginning.

This work was so useful and so satisfying. I don't know if you know much about the Citizens Advice Bureau, but it offers free advice to individuals, and I was in my element, really able to roll my sleeves up and help clients without counting the chargeable minutes and without having them worrying whether they could afford it.

When I was studying law we were taught two things that have stuck with me, one is
"Do not confuse justice and the law, they are not the same thing" and the other is "Access to justice is only for the very, very rich and the very, very poor"
Both statements are absolutely true, except now with the savage cuts to legal aid, it seems "Access to justice is only for the very, very rich"

I believe it is so important to have affordable access to good legal advice. Many small businesses struggle to pay legal fees and by the time they need a solicitor, they really need a solicitor!

My three older sons all have their own successful businesses (and I helped out a fair bit) so I started to notice that there is a real need for good, honest advice and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

I know nothing about plumbing (except it's a bit smelly), or electricals, or building, or roofing or hairdressing or.... well anything much really. But I do know a lot about business law, consumer law, employment legislation, policies and procedures and dispute resolution etc..

Just imagine having a legal consultant who will respond to your query, usually that same day, with no additional invoices for that advice regardless of how many queries you have.

Then think about having a Human Resources consultant who will do the same.

And what about a training provider who offers a huge range of training courses and materials and will deliver that training to you and your staff online, via webinar or in person.

Maybe you need your policies and procedures and business manuals created or updated.

How about a letter you need drafting?

Would you feel confident if you had a surprise visit from the Home Office, CQC or Trading Standards etc?

I am sounding more like a genie in a bottle that just pops out when you need me.

You would need an office for all those people, chairs, desks, computers, parking spaces. Then you'd need tea and biscuits and cake (ok cake might be pushing my luck). You would have to pay their salaries, sick pay, holiday pay, maternity / paternity pay.
